Today is the present, tomorrow is history.
On the occasion of the Republic Day of Kazakhstan, the collection of the Ridder Museum of Local History was enriched with valuable artefacts of historical and cultural significance. Among them are a chainmail suit and a batyr’s helmet, the two-volume edition “Distinguished Figures”, as well as personal belongings of the writer Kökei Säqabaev. This valuable donation was presented to the museum by the writer’s son, Quanysh Säqabaev.
In the 1960s–1980s, Kökei Säqabaev worked as a design engineer in the Design Department of the Leninogorsk Polymetallic Plant. Later, he devoted himself to journalism and literary work, becoming a member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.
From 1984 to 1995, Quanysh Säqabaev worked in the Leninogorsk City Department of the State Security Committee of the Kazakh SSR, which later became part of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The donation of the chainmail suit, batyr’s helmet, the writer’s personal belongings, and literary publications is a significant contribution to preserving the historical and cultural heritage of our region. These artefacts will help preserve the memory of Ridder’s past and its outstanding people, ensuring that our historical heritage is passed on to future generations.
We sincerely thank Quanysh Säqabaev for this valuable donation and his contribution to preserving the historical memory of our region!
